Land of Liberty Block of the Month

This quilt was a show-stopper last fall at Market in Houston! Loving all things patriotic, we knew we had to offer this program to you. We love that this quilt is patriotic but not just red, white and blue – the aqua, gold and yellows really make this quilt shine, don’t you think?

Designed by Konda Luckau of Moose on the Porch Quilts, this 86" x 98" quilt is great for any skill level. It uses many different techniques, include fusible applique, hand embroidery and a couple of paper-pieced blocks, and for every block there are simple, well-illustrated instructions, tips and techniques we think you’ll love.

We’re offering two versions of this quilt, all in premium quilt shop batiks:

• The original design with a “white” border
• Our version with a red border

Our white is a true batik that has just hints of color in it, but still reads as white (as you can see in our photos). We made the red-bordered version because there are frequent small visitors to our home and you know how white is a magnet for grubby little fingers? We have a lot of those little fingers around here so we went with the red border – our red batik also features blue, aqua, gold and yellow mums that remind us of fireworks, so we thought that was appropriate.
