Don’t we all dream of putting our toes in the sand sometimes? It doesn’t matter where we live, the pull of the surf calls to the beach bum in all of us at some point. With “Toes in the Sand” you can visit a different beach every month. Make blocks inspired by the big boulders of Big Sur or the tiny pebbles of Pebble Beach.Join us on a beach-hopping trip up the California coast as we visit Jaybird Quilt’s favorite beaches, making two blocks at each visit (each month).
Our quilt is made with gorgeous water-themed batiks on a pale “sand” background. The blocks all go together so easily using Jaybird Quilts’ fabulous “Hex N More” ruler that our sample maker* – who vehemently dislikes specialty rulers – declared this one “slicker ‘n snot” (pardon that gross expression!) because itmakes cutting and constructing these unusual blocks SO easy.(We highly recommend purchasing the Hex N More ruler, although the pattern includes instructions on making templates for block construction. The ruler just makes it all come together so perfectly.)
This 14-month program begins shipping April 3rd, 2013 and will follow this schedule:
Month #1:You’ll receive the “Toes in the Sand” book, which contains basic instructions, templates to make (if you don’t purchase the “Hex N More” ruler), block chart and quilt layout and a bonus surprise.
MONTHS #2-13:You’ll receive fabric kits for blocks one through twelve, with the fabric needed to make TWO blocks each month. The blocks are made the same, but different fabrics make them look completely different from each other!
Month #14:You’ll receive the fabric for the setting triangles, borders and binding.
The program costs $ 18.00 per month, including U.S. postage, and there is no additional registration (or other) fee.The quilt finishes at a generous 64” x 84” (twin size), making it perfect for a dorm room bed, oversized couch quilt or guest room. This is a very popular program – sign up here to ensure you get in on the fun! (International customers: we ship around the world and will bill you up front for shipping charges to your country.)
* Our sample was pieced and quilted so beautifully by Kathi Eubank of www.HardCandyQuilts.com and we couldn't be more grateful!
